Holiday House Cleaning in Toronto: 2026 Booking Dates and Cost
Most holiday cleaning guides for Toronto stop at a checklist and the advice to "book early." That doesn't tell you what holiday house cleaning in Toronto actually costs, which service to book, or which day to book it for. This guide answers all three. It gives the real Pro City Maids price for holiday house cleaning by home size, explains when a Standard clean is enough and when a deep clean is worth the extra 35%, and maps the 2026 holiday calendar, from Diwali on November 8 to New Year's Eve on a Thursday, onto the days you should book. It also covers the parts of Toronto hosting that generic guides miss: road salt on the floors, condo concierge rules, and the oven you shouldn't self-clean the week before a roast.

Holiday House Cleaning Cost in Toronto by Home Size
Pro City Maids prices a holiday clean the same way it prices every residential clean in Toronto: a base rate for the number of bedrooms, a $25 surcharge for each bathroom after the first, a square footage surcharge for homes of 1,000 sq ft or more, then the service multiplier. A Standard clean is the base price. A deep clean is 1.35 times the base, rounded to the dollar. Here is what that comes to for the homes we clean most often before the holidays, in Canadian dollars:
| Home | Standard | Standard with HST | Deep clean | Deep with HST |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 bed, 1 bath condo, under 1,000 sq ft | $140 | $158.20 | $189 | $213.57 |
| 2 bed, 1 bath, under 1,000 sq ft | $150 | $169.50 | $203 | $229.39 |
| 2 bed, 2 bath, 1,000 to 1,499 sq ft | $185 | $209.05 | $250 | $282.50 |
| 3 bed, 2 bath, 1,500 to 1,999 sq ft | $215 | $242.95 | $290 | $327.70 |
| 4 bed, 3 bath, 2,500 to 2,999 sq ft | $305 | $344.65 | $412 | $465.56 |
These are the same figures the online booking form and our cleaning cost calculator return, because all three read from one pricing table. December does not change the formula. The price for a pre-Christmas clean is the price for a clean in any other month; what changes is how quickly the dates go.
Add-ons sit on top of the service price. On a Standard clean, the inside of the fridge is $25, the inside of the oven $30, interior windows $40 and a basement $50, all before HST. On a deep clean the fridge, oven and interior windows are already included, so only a finished basement, such as a rec room where the kids will sleep over, adds to the price.
Standard or Deep Clean Before You Host?
The right service depends on when the home was last cleaned properly, not on how many guests are coming. A Standard clean covers kitchens, bathrooms, dusting and floors. A deep clean adds the detail work that builds up over months: baseboards, appliance interiors, grease and soap scum buildup, and interior windows.
| Option | Price | Oven and fridge inside | Interior windows |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard clean | $215 | Not included | Not included |
| Standard + oven + fridge | $270 | Included | Not included |
| Standard + oven + fridge + windows | $310 | Included | Included |
| Deep clean (×1.35) | $290 | Included | Included |
The table shows the decision most hosts don't realise they are making. If you want the oven and fridge done before you cook, a Standard clean with both add-ons is $270, only $20 less than a deep clean that also includes interior windows and baseboards. Add the windows and the Standard route costs $20 more than the deep clean. For anyone hosting a big meal in a home that hasn't had a deep clean since spring, the deep clean is the better value.
- Book a Standard clean if you are on a weekly or bi-weekly schedule, or had a deep clean in the last three months, and the oven and fridge are in reasonable shape.
- Book a deep clean if the home hasn't had one in three to six months, if you plan to cook a large roast, or if guests will be staying overnight and using every room.
- Book both if you host twice: a deep clean before the first event, then a Standard clean before the second.
Our deep cleaning cost guide breaks the deep clean down further by bedrooms and square footage, and the deep cleaning Toronto page lists exactly what the team covers room by room.
2026 Holiday Dates and When to Book Your Clean
The GTA's holiday season is not one date. Toronto households host for Thanksgiving, Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas and New Year's, and each lands on a different weekday in 2026. The best day for a pre-event clean is two to three days before guests arrive, which leaves time for floors to dry, the home to air out, and any touch-up to be fixed before the event rather than after it. Here is how that maps onto 2026:
| Holiday | 2026 date | Best day to clean | Book by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thanksgiving | Monday, October 12 | Wednesday or Thursday, October 7 or 8 | As soon as possible |
| Diwali | Sunday, November 8 (Dhanteras Friday, November 6) | Wednesday or Thursday, November 4 or 5 | Mid-October |
| Hanukkah | Begins Friday evening, December 4, ends December 12 | Tuesday or Wednesday, December 1 or 2 | Early November |
| Christmas Eve and Christmas Day | Thursday and Friday, December 24 and 25 | Monday to Wednesday, December 21 to 23 | Late November |
| After Christmas | Boxing Day, Saturday, December 26 | Monday, December 28 | Early December |
| New Year's Eve | Thursday, December 31 | Before: Tuesday, December 29. After: Saturday, January 2, 2027 | Early December |
Two things about the 2026 calendar matter for booking. First, Christmas Day falls on a Friday, so the working week before it is effectively Monday to Wednesday, and three days of demand squeeze into a short window. Second, Hanukkah's first night falls on a Friday evening, the same night as Shabbat, so families hosting that first night should plan for the clean to be done by midweek. If you are hosting for Diwali in Brampton or Mississauga, our Diwali and Eid deep cleaning guide covers the pre-puja clean in more detail.
Pro tip from our Toronto teams
Cleaning Before and After a Party: Timing and Cost
Many Toronto hosts book two visits: one to get the home ready and one to reset it afterwards. The second visit is a Standard clean, because the job is surface mess, not months of buildup, and it is priced on the same formula with no party surcharge. For the 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home in the tables above, the common combinations look like this before HST:
- Deep clean before, Standard clean after: $290 + $215 = $505, or $570.65 with HST. The usual choice for a home hosting Christmas dinner after a busy fall.
- Standard clean before and after: $215 + $215 = $430, or $485.90 with HST. Right for a home already on a recurring schedule.
- Deep clean before only: $290, or $327.70 with HST. For hosts who are happy to do the post-party tidy themselves.
For the after-party visit, a little preparation lets the team spend its time on cleaning rather than clearing. Bag and take out leftover food, empty bottles and wrapping paper before the team arrives, and put away valuables and gifts. Load or run the dishwasher if you can. Tell us when you book if the kitchen will need extra time, so the visit is scheduled for long enough. Plan the reset for the next regular working day rather than the holiday itself: Monday, December 28 after Christmas, and Saturday, January 2 after New Year's Eve.
Why the Kitchen Comes First (and the Oven Warning)
The kitchen does the hardest work over the holidays, and it is where a clean before hosting pays off most. Clean the inside of the fridge before the big grocery shop, not after, so there is room for the turkey or the sweets and nothing old is hiding behind them. Clean the oven before cooking, because baked-on grease from a fall of sheet-pan dinners smokes at roasting temperature and can set off a smoke alarm mid-meal.
One thing not to do: run your oven's self-clean cycle in the days before a holiday meal. The cycle heats the oven far above cooking temperature to burn off residue, and Consumer Reports notes that the extreme heat can stress electronic controls and parts. Appliance repair companies are busiest in the same weeks, so a failure in late December can leave you without an oven for the meal. If you use the self-clean cycle at all, run it in early October or after the holidays, and have the oven hand-cleaned before hosting instead. A Pro City Maids deep clean includes the inside of the oven at no extra charge.
- Fridge shelves, drawers and door bins emptied, washed and dried before the grocery shop.
- Oven interior, racks and door glass degreased by hand, without the self-clean cycle.
- Range hood filter and stovetop cleaned so frying and roasting don't smoke.
- Counters, backsplash and cabinet fronts wiped where guests will set down plates and glasses.
- Sink and faucet descaled, and the garbage and recycling area cleaned before it fills up.
Then the dining and living rooms
After the kitchen, guests spend the evening in the dining and living rooms, seated, at eye level with surfaces nobody looks at day to day. Dust the light fixture over the dining table, the tops of picture frames and the TV stand, wipe the table and chair backs, and vacuum the sofa and under the cushions. Do this before the decorating goes up, not after: a tree, garlands and a table runner make dusting and vacuuming around them slower for everyone.
Toronto Winter Problems Holiday Cleaning Has to Handle
A December clean in Toronto isn't the same job as one in June. Three winter problems show up in almost every home we clean between Thanksgiving and New Year's:
- Road salt and slush. Salt from sidewalks and driveways dries into a white film on hardwood, tile and the front hall mat. It needs a damp clean with a floor-appropriate cleaner, not just a vacuum, and it comes back every time someone walks in. Set out a boot tray and a second mat inside the door before guests arrive.
- Dry indoor air and dust. With the furnace running, dust settles faster on shelves, baseboards and vents. That is one reason a deep clean before hosting, which includes baseboards, lasts noticeably longer than a quick tidy.
- Closed windows. Homes can't be aired out as easily in December, so cooking smells and cleaning product scent linger. Ask for fragrance-free products if guests are scent-sensitive; our teams bring their own equipment and products, including eco-friendly and fragrance-free options on request.
Eco-friendly products add 15% to the price of the clean and any add-ons. Professional-grade products are included at no extra cost on every visit. See our eco-friendly cleaning guide for GTA families and pets if you are hosting relatives with young children or pets.
Hosting in a Toronto Condo: Concierge, Parking and Timing
Toronto's condo towers add logistics that houses don't, and they matter more in December, when buildings are busier with deliveries and visitors. None of them change the Pro City Maids price, which depends only on bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage and add-ons. They do change scheduling, so tell us when you book:
- Whether the building needs cleaners registered with the concierge or security desk in advance.
- Visitor parking rules, or the nearest paid lot, since visitor spots fill up during the holidays.
- Fob or key arrangements if you won't be home when the team arrives.
- Any building quiet hours or service elevator rules that limit when equipment can come up.
Condo kitchens are small, so the before-and-after timing matters even more: a clean the morning of a party leaves no room to cook. Our condo cleaning Toronto page covers recurring condo service if you want the unit kept up through the season.
Getting a Guest Room Ready for Overnight Visitors
Overnight guests see more of the home than dinner guests do. They use the guest bathroom every morning and notice the dust on a nightstand that never gets used. When guests are staying, include the guest room and bathroom in the clean and ask the team to give them extra attention:
- Guest room dusted top to bottom, including the nightstand, headboard and window sill.
- Floor vacuumed under the bed and behind the door, where dust collects in a room nobody uses.
- Guest bathroom cleaned and stocked: soap, a spare roll, and fresh towels set out.
- Fresh sheets on the bed. Strip the bed before the visit and leave clean linens out for the team.
- Closet space and a few empty hangers cleared, so guests aren't living out of a suitcase.
If a basement is becoming the guest suite or the kids' sleepover room, add the basement to the booking. It is $50 before HST on either a Standard or deep clean.
How to Keep Holiday Cleaning Costs Down
- Pick the right service once. If you want the oven, fridge and windows done, a deep clean costs less than a Standard clean with all three add-ons.
- Start recurring service in November. Bi-weekly Standard cleans are 15% off and weekly cleans 20% off, so a $215 home is $183 a visit bi-weekly, and December is just a scheduled visit. Our recurring house cleaning cost guide has the full rates.
- Declutter before the team arrives. Clear counters, tables and floors of gifts, decorations in progress and paper. The team cleans surfaces faster when they are clear.
- Give the right square footage. Quoting the actual size of the home avoids a mismatch between the booking and the home on the day.
- Book early. There is no surcharge for late booking, but the short week before Christmas fills first, and booking early gets you the day you want.
New customers pay a $50 deposit to hold their first booking, applied to the final price. Repeat customers don't pay a deposit and settle the full amount after the visit. If you are selling in the spring rather than hosting this winter, our pre-listing cleaning checklist covers that different job.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does holiday house cleaning cost in Toronto?
At Pro City Maids, a one-time holiday house clean in Toronto costs from $140 CAD for a Standard clean of a 1-bedroom, 1-bathroom home under 1,000 sq ft, or $189 for a deep clean of the same home, before 13% HST. A typical 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home of 1,500 to 1,999 sq ft is $215 for a Standard clean or $290 for a deep clean before HST. There is no holiday surcharge: December is priced on the same bedroom, bathroom and square footage formula as the rest of the year.
How far in advance should I book a house cleaner for Christmas in Toronto?
Book a Christmas clean in Toronto 3 to 4 weeks ahead, which in 2026 means by late November for the Monday to Wednesday before Christmas Eve (December 21 to 23). The days right before a long weekend fill fastest across the GTA, and Christmas Day falls on a Friday in 2026, so the week of December 21 is short and in high demand. Pro City Maids confirms your date and price when you book.
Should I get a deep clean or a regular clean before hosting for the holidays?
Book a deep clean before holiday hosting if the home has not had one in the last three to six months, or if you want the inside of the oven and fridge cleaned before cooking. A Pro City Maids deep clean costs 1.35 times the Standard price and already includes the inside of the oven, the inside of the fridge and interior windows. If your home is on a regular cleaning schedule, a Standard clean two or three days before guests arrive is usually enough.
Do house cleaners in Toronto clean up after a holiday party?
Yes. Pro City Maids books post-party cleans in Toronto as a Standard clean, priced on bedrooms, bathrooms and square footage, with no party surcharge. The team cleans kitchens, bathrooms, dusting and floors. Bag and remove leftover food and empty bottles before the team arrives, and tell us when you book if the kitchen will need extra time, so the visit is scheduled long enough.
Is there a holiday surcharge for house cleaning in December?
No. Pro City Maids does not add a holiday or peak-season surcharge in Toronto. A December clean is priced exactly like one in March: a base rate for bedrooms and bathrooms, a square footage surcharge for homes over 1,000 sq ft, the service multiplier, any add-ons, then 13% HST. The only thing that changes in December is availability, so book earlier.
Can I book a house cleaning on Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day in Toronto?
Ask before assuming. Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day are Ontario statutory holidays, and availability on those dates is limited. For a post-holiday reset, Pro City Maids recommends booking the next regular working day, Monday, December 28, 2026 after Christmas, or Saturday, January 2, 2027 after New Year's Eve, rather than relying on the holiday itself.
Is it cheaper to start recurring cleaning before the holidays?
It can be. Pro City Maids gives 15% off Standard cleans booked bi-weekly and 20% off weekly. A 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home of 1,500 to 1,999 sq ft that is $215 as a one-time Standard clean is $183 per visit bi-weekly, before HST. Starting in November means the home is maintained through December, and the holiday visit is just another scheduled clean rather than a catch-up.
Do I need to pay a deposit to book a holiday cleaning?
Only on your first booking. New Pro City Maids customers pay a $50 CAD deposit to hold their first clean, which is applied to the final price. Repeat customers do not pay a deposit and settle the full amount after the visit.
